Our Beliefs
The Bible
We believe that the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture. Therefore, we believe the Bible is without error. "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
God
We believe in one personal God who exists eternally in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, equal in power, authority and glory. “I am the Lord, and there is no other; besides Me there is no God." (Isaiah 45:5)
Jesus
We believe Jesus Christ to be the virgin-born Son of God who lived in flesh, died for the sins of the world, was buried, rose again bodily, and ascended to the Father. "And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth." (John 1:14)
Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit who regenerates and indwells every believer of Jesus, glorifies Jesus, assures us of our salvation, guides us into all truth, and convicts of sin, righteousness and judgment. He comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and empowers us for service. “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you." (John 14:16-17)
Regarding Sin
We believe that all people were created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, people are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own efforts. "...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)
Salvation
We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way for the forgiveness of sin. God freely offers salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. "He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. Salvation cannot be earned, it is a gift from God." (2 Corinthians 5:21) "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast." (Ephesisans 2:8-9)
The Church
We believe in the universal church, the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith in the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him, obeying Him and bringing the gospel to the world. "For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit."
(1 Corinthians 12:12-13)
Heaven
We believe in the personal, visible return of Christ to the earth and the establishing of His Kingdom, in the resurrection of the body, and the final judgment. We believe that our eternal destination of either heaven or hell is determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." (John 3:16-18)
Marriage
We believe that God created both male and female. God instituted monogamous marriage between male and female as the foundation of the family and the basic structure of human society. Therefore, we perform marriages in accordance with God's Word. "The Lord God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. The man said, 'This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.'" (Genesis 2:22-24)
WHO WE ARE
Preaching the Gospel
Paul said, "I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes..." (Romans 1:16) Belief in Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation, therefore the Gospel (good news) of Jesus Christ is at the center of all we do in both teaching and activity.
Teaching the Word
2 Timothy 3:16 says, "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work." We believe that teaching God's Word is essential for growth and maturity.
Making Disciples
In 1 Corinthians 11:1 Paul said, "Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ." We are inviting others to follow us as we follow after Jesus. We have a heart to see people know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, and walk as Jesus did. "...whoever says he abides in Him ought to walk in the same way in which He walked." (1 John 2:6)
Loving Others
Jesus said in John 13:34, "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another." The love of God is what caused Him to send Jesus to die in our place. Therefore, God's love should be evident in the way we treat other people.
